Sleeping within 5 feet of an adult (not jus the birthing or breastfeeding adult) is one of the 5 recommended things implemented to reduce SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrom. Preparing your bedside sleeping arrangement ahead of time is the surest way to have baby sleeping safely in an intentional space so that parents and caregivers are never accidentally in a position of sleep that was not intentional and therefore unintentionally dangerous for their tiny newborn.
